Loyalist Township Council will be deciding whether or not to fund the completion of a new master fire plan at their meeting this week. The current master fire plan within the township is 15 years old.
The emergency services department is asking council for an amendment to the 2024 budget to fund a new master fire plan in the amount of $80,000. The current unfunded cost of a new plan is $75,000. Staff are recommending the remainder be funded from the township working fund.
Master fire plans are set to help guide councils and fire management staff with future planning and budgeting over long terms. According to staff’s report, the new master fire plan would be set in place for the next 10 years in Loyalist. Emergency services in the area have had to quickly evolve over the last
few years. With more anticipated growth in the township, staff noted they will need to continue to adapt moving forward.
