A Nanaimo business is taking on the Plastic Free Challenge and is urging others to challenge themselves to lower the use of single-use plastic in July.
Paula McPhee is the owner of Vancouver Island Refillery and is passionate about sharing information and support for people to find ways to reduce plastic waste. She is calling on people to join her in doing the Plastic Free July challenge to rethink how much single-use plastic they use. She says it is important for everyone to limit single-plastic use as it can have impacts on animals and the environment.
McPhee tells CHLY that there are a lot of different ways to lower plastic use and that can be smaller simple changes in daily activities. She says starting slow with something that doesn’t change your habits too much so it doesn’t become overwhelming.
