A $15-million smartphone app which the Nova Scotia government says puts patients’ medical records “in your pocket” will expand to all of Nova Scotia after a four-month pilot project at six clinics.
The government gave early access to the YourHealthNS app to 13,824 patients from January to April. One of the pilot clinics was Queens Family Health in Liverpool.
After gathering feedback from users in the pilot, it announced Wednesday that anyone over 16 with a valid Nova Scotia health card can now download the app and access its features.
People can access their own medical records, prescriptions, lab and test results, immunizations, and a history of their primary care visits. Patients can also schedule some appointments through the app.
Health officials say 30 per cent of those who responded to an in-app survey said they didn’t have to see their care provider because they had access to their records through the app.
