Thousands attended Canada Day celebrations across Northwest, B.C., but amongst the celebrations there was also reflection on Canada’s complex history.
“Over the past few years especially, after May 2021, Canada Day has become a lot more complex conversation,” said Reid Skelton-Morven, MC for Canada Day celebrations in Prince Rupert. “For me Canada Day is finding a way forward, celebrating but also finding the time and the space to acknowledge and reflect on some of the darker chapters of Canada’s history.”
