Many library users say it’s not the ideal location, but they’re trying to make the best of it as the Region of Queens holds public consultation sessions on its design.
Region of Queens councillors voted in February to move the library to the Liverpool Business Development Centre on White Point Road by the end of the year, setting aside between $1.05 and $1.26 million for renovations. The municipally owned building currently houses a call centre and an accountant’s office.
About 40 people turned out this week at four sessions so far. The final one is planned for Saturday at the Thomas H. Raddall library at 12:30 p.m.
Even though councillors decided to move the library, they also acknowledged that a newly elected council in October could tackle the issue of a new library. But that could still take at least three to five years to happen.
