Peterborough City Council has begun the process of creating the 2025 Budget, and it will look different than it has in previous years, which was seen in a June 11 General Committee meeting.
“The departments come to city council and provide information on their departments, with a focus on the budget,” says Andrew Beamer, Peterborough City Councillor and Finance Chair, which is new this year.
Each department presented three different scenarios: if their budget stayed the same, if it was enhanced, or if cuts were made.
The meeting was over seven hours in length and they did not get through all department’s presentations. There will be an additional meeting for early 2025 Budget information on June 27.
Beamer said the new budget process “went well,” and that he thinks it is important for the community to have this information “early in the process.”
