The Government of British Columbia will expand Abbotsford Middle School on Bevan Avenue by 200 student spaces with a $12 million dollar project.
It is expected to result in eight classrooms, constructed with prefabricated materials, slated to be open by autumn 2025.
Minister of Education Rachna Singh said she is, “extremely proud,” of the investments her government has made in education, including an additional $70 million in other school projects around Abbotsford – a 500-seat expansion of Irene Kelleher Elementary, seismic upgrades at Abbotsford Traditional Secondary, and additions at Auguston Traditional and Margaret Stenersen elementary schools that will add a combined 360 seats.
Singh also points to the $3.75 billion earmarked for capital projects across the province in the current budget for expansions, seismic upgrades, and to purchase land for future school construction projects.
