A “Community Seed Exchange” has launched at the Peterborough Public Library in downtown Peterborough this year.
“It’s a free resource for the community to exchange their seeds,” says Library Services Manager Mark Stewart.
Stewart says that the library has wanted to open a seed exchange program for “quite some time, but [they] did not have the capacity to do it [themselves]” until approached by “Nogojiwanong Mutual Aid” about starting the program.
The Seed Exchange has been operating since May and is restocked entirely by community donations.
This Seed Exchange is an example of what the Library offers beyond book lending: Stewart calls the Library a “free, community, meeting space” that exists to promote “community building, and learning opportunities.”
