Despite the best efforts of the owners of a local property, Wellington North is not reconsidering its pool bylaw.
Mayor Andy Lennox explained to council Monday that the property in question had caught the attention of the bylaw officer because the pool was not surrounded by the required five foot fence. The owners, who remained unidentified at council, sent examples of exemptions applied in neighbouring municipalities hoping they could have something similar applied to their property.
The bylaw applies to both in-ground and above-ground pools.
Lennox told the property owners that the Township was not willing to assume the risk for their pool by allowing an exemption.
Council voted to maintain the bylaw as written, allowing for no exemptions whatsoever.
