Boaters were disappointed to see a notice appear, May 29, at the Picton Yacht Club stating “marine fuel and pump out services are temporarily not available and at this time there is no indication when the services will be open”.
The marina operator, Tenacity, is located in the Picton Harbour across from the yacht club but since the club does not supply the services, boating members are dependent on Tenacity.
Now, some boaters will bring their own fuel raising concerns about spillage and inadequate cleanup.
Alternatives for service in the region include Waupoos at the south end of the County, two marinas in Belleville and Loyalist Marina in Bath, west of Kingston, but all are 4 to 5 hours of travel for ten minutes of service.
But, it may only be a temporary issue. Customer service and sales representative for Tenacity, Blake Myles, told CJPE news about his plans for the marina and return of full services by the end of June.
