Families who qualify for a school bus in Cobourg, Port Hope and surrounding areas must opt-in for the 2024-2025 school year. In previous years, the Student Transportation Service of Central Ontario has used school databases to determine eligible students and design bus routes.
STSCO Chief Administrative Officer Roy Wierenga told CFWN that not all eligible students ride the bus, either part-time or full-time, and it’s more efficient to design routes based on actual usage.
While the deadline is this Friday, May 31, Wierenga says families can still opt-in past that date, but it will just take longer to get assigned to a bus. The opt-in process can be completed by parents and guardians at stsco.ca
