Tom Skabar has coached the Mount Allison University Women’s Basketball team for 11 years. In that time, he noticed a gap in services for girls at a local level, so he founded the Junior Mounties Club.
Girls from the border area of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia tryout to be on one of the club’s three teams, U14, U16 or U18.
According to Skabar, their mission statement is to bring players together after the school season to connect, compete and look for opportunities to improve their skills.
CHMA News takes us to a basketball practice and talks to Coach Skabar and one of the players.
