Native Horizons Treatment Centre Executive Director Wanda Smith says the newly re-opened facility will work to provide crucial support services to the community once again.
In 2018, the treatment centre was destroyed by a fire. Smith says in the time between 2018 and the centre re-opening they received over 9,000 calls from community members looking for support in mental health and addiction.
CJKS spoke with Smith to hear more about the future of the centre following the re-opening April 17.
She says with the new building Native Horizons is looking to add more programs that will provide assistance to community members in need and adds that there’s been a community gap in providing support services.
“Having access to reliable services whether they’re psychological, the therapeutic services is really crucial and there is really not many available.”
