Six Nations has always been the stomping grounds for many professional athletes, but Six Nations has yet to have a professional football player from the community. But that is changing. Austin Garlow-Henry is entering the next stage of his career as a football player — he was just recently drafted to the Alberta Fighter Jets Football Club.
During an interview between CKRZ News, Garlow-Henry spoke about the importance of this next step in his career as there has never been a Six Nations professional football player. Nor has there been Indigenous representation in football as there has been in other sports such as hockey or lacrosse.
Garlow also spoke about giving back and uplifting his community saying he wants to help the community which helped him.
