Hamilton director Ryan Furlong has requested to film parts of his upcoming movie “For the Love of Rose” within the Six Nations territory.
Furlong and the film’s producer Chris Cowles discussed the possibility during the April 9 general council meeting.
Furlong says the film does included Indigenous aspects and he and production team are looking to provide an authentic portrayal for those aspects; they are seeking guidance from Six Nations Elected Council (SNEC). He says that the film will be looking for Indigenous talent as well as film crew members to hire once a more secure timeline is established.
The film’s team says filming could take place in the upcoming fall or spring depending on financing from Telefilm Canada.
SNEC approved a motion to have the film’s team work with council’s education and cultural committee to figure out more details on the project and when filming could take place.
