A new report suggests Newfoundland and Labrador’s MHAs should get a $25,000 a year pay raise.
Heather Jacobs was appointed by government to develop a report and says public engagement was low. The House of Assembly Management Commission met to review recommendations of her report called, “How we Value Democracy.”
Jacobs says MHAs are not being paid a fair or reasonable salary and a review has not been done since 2007, adding that all MHAs included in this review requested an increase, which would cost an extra million dollars a year.
