Loyalist Township council has decided on a new five year agreement with the the Bath Pickleball Club.
The permit fee will be increased by 25 per cent, with a 5 per cent capital improvement fee. This equates to an increase of $1.41 per member.
The fees collected for capital improvement will be allocated to a reserve fund for future facility improvements. As with the previous agreement, the township is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and capital costs of the park. Staff noted these costs are increasing annually.
According to the report, the club had 243 members in 2023 and is growing. There is currently no consistent model in Ontario for how outdoor pickleball courts are charged and managed.
The agreement in 2021 was set at $1,000 for 24 hours per week for contracted time at Bath Pickleball Courts. In 2024, the seasonal fee will be increased to $1,375 which broke down to $0.71 per court per hour.
