The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit has begun its next round of communication to ensure student vaccinations are up to date.
The health unit mailed first notices Monday to parents and guardians of students in junior and senior kindergarten and grade 2 and 4-8 whose children are overdue for required immunizations under the Immunization of School Pupils Act and do not have a valid exemption on record. Suspension orders will be sent on April 29 with suspensions beginning May 13.
In addition, the health unit announced Tuesday there are four active cases of measles in Ontario and suggest all children and adults make sure their measles immunizations are up to date, especially with more than usual travel anticipated as March Break approaches.
CFWN spoke with the HKPR health unit’s manager of communicable diseases and prevention control Marianne Rock.
