Ramadan is ending soon and the Bangladesh-Canada Student Society of Windsor is planning an event to celebrate.
For those who celebrate Ramadan — the Islamic month where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset — the group will be holding an Iftar party around the first week of April.
And they will be celebrating something else too. On January 25th, the Bangladesh-Canada Student Society of Windsor officially became a non-profit organization.
The goal of the new group is to connect students from Bangladesh to each other and the greater Windsor Bangladeshi community, which numbers about 700 according to the 2021 census.
CJAM spoke to the founding secretary of the Bangladesh-Canada Student Society of Windsor, Nagib Mahfuz, about the student society, why it formed, and the next plans the group has.
