The Elora Centre for the Arts got a big boost late last week when they were given just over $1.2 million as a part of the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund.
The funding will help the arts centre with a planned expansion that Executive Director Lianne Carter says is aimed to be more accessible and serve the community at full capacity.
Including a multi-use atrium and kitchen among other features, Carter says fundraising for the project has reached $3.4 million without going “fully public” yet.
She added currently the centre is turning away about 50 per cent of their inquiries, but that prep has begun for construction they hope to break ground on in the fall of 2024.
CICW spoke with Carter on the heels of the funding’s announcement.
