At the Feb. 12 council meeting in Russell Township, Coun. Mike Tarnowski proposed ending the long-standing Question Period on the Meeting of the Day.
Question Period runs at the end of every regular council meeting. Councilors made several comments about the questions from the public and the comments not being appropriate in a public council meeting setting. They stated that some questions were more like statements and expressed residents’ anger.
After further discussion at the meeting, it was deemed that Tarnowski’s motion can be considered official notice, therefore the vote on the matter will be taken at the Feb. 26 council meeting.
CJRO has prepared a short summary of the key components of the discussion among council members, including quotes from the four councilors and the Mayor of the Township Pierre Leroux.
