Residents of Halifax spoke out once again about saving Centennial Pool at the city’s community planning and development standing committee on Thursday.
The committee met to discuss a report that highlights the future of Centennial Pool. The report came from a motion put forward by Coun. Waye Mason in June 2022. The motion asked council for a staff report on the potential disposal of Centennial Pool and building a new 50-metre pool off the peninsula.
During the public participation on Thursday, residents raised their concerns about the disposal of the pool.
Trevor Brumwell from the Save Centennial Pool Committee spoke once again on the importance of keeping the pool. Brumwell recommends making improvements to the existing pool and adding another 50-metre pool due to the growing population in HRM.
The report is still in the works and will go before council at a later date.
