PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. officially handed over the keys to Northern Health in Terrace on Wednesday for the new mental health facility Seven Sisters, and
Staff and residents have already moved in.
The new facility, at the current Mills Memorial Hospital, will provide better care for people with serious mental health challenges and is nearly twice as big as the previous facility as it has 25 patient beds, according to Northern Health.
The previous Seven Sisters building could not be reused or repurposed, even though it was only built in 2005, due to logistical and safety reasons and potentially interrupting traffic flow and causing safety issues.
Clare Hart, Director of Specialized Services, Northwest Health Services Delivery Area, Northern Health spoke with CFNR about the new facility and the hopes for a grand opening celebration in the future.
